A volleyball uniform looks simple — a jersey and spandex — but the quote has more moving parts than most coaches expect: a libero top that has to contrast with the team, spandex that is sized and priced on its own, and knee pads, socks, and warm-ups that sit outside the uniform order. With the California fall season in full swing and club volleyball ramping up, now is when athletic directors and booster treasurers are drawing up next year's budget. This guide gives you planning ranges, the levers that move the number, and the costs that get missed.

The short answer: typical ranges

Across the market, a custom volleyball jersey and spandex shorts set for a high school or club program commonly lands in these rough per-player ranges. Treat them as budgeting guardrails, not a quote — your real number depends on brand, decoration, and how many you order. Knee pads, socks, and warm-ups are not included.

TierWhat you getRough per-player range*
BudgetQuality non-branded jersey and spandex, screen-print or heat-transfer numbers and team name~$45–75
MidStock branded jersey and spandex, decorated numbers and lettering~$75–110
PremiumFully custom sublimated jersey with color-blocking and matching spandex~$110–150+

What actually drives the price

Four levers move a volleyball uniform quote more than anything else.

1. Jersey construction

Stock jerseys with applied numbers cost the least and suit JV and freshman rosters. Full custom cut-and-sew styling with sublimated graphics costs more but gives varsity a one-of-a-kind look. Our volleyball uniform buying guide covers fabrics and fit in more depth.

2. Decoration: screen print vs. sublimation

Screen print and heat-transfer numbers are the cheapest way to decorate a stock jersey. Sublimation puts unlimited color, gradients, and sponsor marks into the fabric without per-color charges, which is why most premium sets use it — the tradeoffs are laid out in our sublimation vs. traditional decoration comparison.

3. Brand

Quality non-branded lines deliver a sharp, durable set for less. Adidas and Under Armour team lines sit higher and bring deeper template libraries. Because a dealer quotes several, you compare value instead of guessing.

4. Quantity & minimums

Bigger orders lower the per-unit price. Watch minimums, too: many suppliers require 8–20 pieces per design. National Sports Apparel has no minimums, so a small JV order and a full varsity program are both fine.

Two volleyball-specific line items

The libero jersey

Under NFHS volleyball rules, which California's CIF follows, the libero must wear a top that contrasts with the rest of the team. That makes it a separate item in a different color, not a spare from the main set. Order one or two, price them as their own line, and confirm the current season's contrast requirement with your section before finalizing art.

Spandex

Spandex is cut and sized differently from jerseys, and it is easy to mis-size by working from the jersey chart. Many programs order it in a separate fabric and decoration, so ask for it as its own line. Our sizing hub helps get the roster right the first time.

The costs teams forget to budget

  • Libero jerseys — one or two in the contrasting color, with spares if your libero rotates.
  • Knee pads and socks — outside the uniform order, but every player needs them.
  • Warm-ups and practice tops — often the second-biggest line after game jerseys.
  • Late roster additions — hold a small buffer of jerseys and sizes after tryouts.
  • Spirit wear — a team store can turn fan apparel into a fundraiser instead of a program expense.

How to lower the cost without looking cheap

  • Mix tiers by squad — varsity in a premium sublimated set, JV and freshman in decorated stock jerseys from the same color family.
  • Order early — custom orders typically run 6 to 10 weeks, and spring or early-summer orders avoid the rush before August tryouts.
  • Bundle jerseys, spandex, warm-ups, and spirit wear into one order instead of several purchase orders.
  • Ask for both a branded and a non-branded quote and compare value side by side.

Get a real number, not a guess

Ranges are for planning; a quote is for deciding. A team dealer prices your exact roster across brands and decoration methods so you see real options before the season opens. We've outfitted California programs since 2009, quote branded and non-branded together, and have no order minimums.
